    WHY PHILOSOPHY NOT SCIENCE?

    Yes, well, the way I look at it, is that the job of philosophers is to integrate the findings of science into our system of -collection of- general rules, by which we agree upon a useful, beneficial, normative perception of the world we live in, and how we should act in it.

    So, I do understand that science, not philosophy, is the source of current knowledge.

    But we must understand what to value, and devalue and consider foul, and what to encode encode in law, not encode in law. Because while we may desire our preferences, the law describes the boundary beyond which our preferences may not pass.

    I wonder if there is any value in getting Putin to just use the term ‘The Cathedral’ as ridicule a few times – demonstrating the dominance of the ideological-and-failed-academic-church’s influence on the state rather than the pragmatic state’s influence on the academy’ such that it produces people who can succeed in the economy. The church has its place, but that is not the academy. And the academy has taken upon itself to replace the church.

    And it’s an evil religion that the academy teaches.

    It looks like uTorrent has something very naughty buried in its java code…. I can’t figure out what it’s doing. But it’s regularly doing something that it shouldn’t, because it shouldn’t be doing anything if its not running. I’m not interested enough to do the work to figure it out. I’d just assumed that it was a ‘clean’ app – and I was wrong.

    Java needs to die.

    I still can’t find a reason why under fiat money, we charge interest on home, condo and apartments constructed and owned by individuals. As far as I know the private mortgage industry is entirely parasitic and is the primary driver of inflation.

    I mean. That’s what it looks like, and I can’t find a competing argument.

    The MMT folks are partly right.

    So I send Vitalii a note that I am blown away at how fast the app is now, and he says that he can make it 5x faster, but that he won’t tell me how and I have to wait until the other work is done.

    It’s like having your parents tell you that you must wait for a present until Christmas. 😉
