[A] republic, or an oligarchy by any other name, even one ruled by law, is a notoriously indecisive form of organization. I do not see a better division of labor than the one we discovered by accident. A republic is an excellent means of producing commons. A monarchy an excellent means of conducting war. And a democracy an excellent means of fooling the people into suicide. The Optimum that I know of: 1) Monarch, Military, and Militia for the defense of people, territory, routes, and trade. 2) Independent Judiciary for the resolution of conflicts, Rule of law, Property en Toto. 3) An independent treasury for the provision of credit (issuance and repurchase of shares) 4) Houses for the Production of Commons with members drawn by lot. 5) Families for the production of generations under voluntary selection of mates. 6) Men and Women forming Militia and emergency services. 7) Private provision of public goods. We had it about right. If we had given women and the proletarians houses and maintained land and property requirements we would have created a market for commons, instead of the fallacy of majority rule (mob rule).

Having an I love Slavic culture day today. In the states it’s pretty clear that Anglos, Dutch, and Nordics occupy the upper class, then germans, then Slavs. I would like to see data on it just to make sure it’s not geographic sampling in my part.
But here, they reach a natural distribution and it’s beautiful.

I just thought of a curated advertising model that would work within Oversing at some point in its distant future. I am surprised no one has done it yet. Maybe they have tried and it’s not effective enough for consumer products. Interesting.
Also, I’ve been against advertising in the FB and google model. But you know, I’m totally in favor of catalog and magazine subscriptions that don’t cost anything. In other words, if the user wants to subscribe to a ‘page’ sponsored by a company then that’s very different from spamming users.
Anyway. Just ruminating. (Kirill is fixing bugs. I am testing. We are drinking coffee and Borjomi. It’s wet and cold outside. )

(Facebook ‘features’)
Apparently Facebook is kicking up memories of the past on a random basis. But how do they select good and bad memories? I mean, if you show me a photo from my divorce era I might just start sobbing. Others fill you with joy.
This photo magically appeared on my timeline today. Amanda is an elegant woman, beautiful and kind. A bit of a fragile flower at times, which makes her all the more desirable. She’ll be beautiful no matter what her age. I couldn’t tolerate living in Canada, and she couldn’t trust me to be dependable enough to follow me. And she was terrified of racism in the states the same way europeans are terrified of guns in the states.
Men are more sentimental than women. I still love every women I’ve ever been with. Women are not. When we’re gone, they hate us. This makes a kind of reproductive sense really. We still protect them if they don’t mate with us. They refuse to mate with us because for them we’re unreliable, and they spread negative gossip about us to other women, decreasing our reproductive viability.
All knowledge is not welcome. Ignorance is comforting. The universe is not our friend. We defeat the universe with every day we exist. It is our only function – to conquer and bend the universe to our will, for our own purpose, and in doing so make a garden by pacifying a universe that cares not about us in the least.

OVER-INVESTING IN FUTURE EXECUTIVES WHILE CONSTRAINING CURRENT MANAGEMENT COSTS.
OVER-INVESTING IN FUTURE EXECUTIVES WHILE CONSTRAINING CURRENT MANAGEMENT COSTS.
I have usually over invested in management talent and it shows in the profits on one hand and in growth rates on the other. I only build growth companies.
It takes a few years to train someone well enough to operate successfully. And if you want growth you need talent.
This is why my criticisms of middle management don’t seem right.
But I don’t hire middle managers. I hire future executives in training and I rotate them all over the company.

EMPIRICAL CEO ADVICE 3:
People’s stress is not a reason to make a decision. Much to the distress of my management teams I am perfectly happy postponing tactical decisions until the information is in, and sometimes until it cannot be delayed.
This might sound counter to conventional wisdom but my particular skill is the long horizon I have no problem making strategic decisions – early. Because that is where I spend nearly all of my efforts.
But I have good reasons for delaying a lot of other decisions.
Why? People use early decisions as cheap means of experimentation that exchanges lower effort for offloading risk onto the business. I force them to collect information through research and to continue producing until change in production is necessary. Most middle management bloat and job justification is the result of playing at experimentation rather than self education by research. People are lazy in all walks of life. Progressives spend resources others earned send so does middle management. It’s the c level and the labor that pinches pennies.
