Form: Short Note

(I always want to call bullshit on my family’s history because I am just so suspicious of victorian pretense. but in 1250 it’s still Johannes De Duletel. And the recorded origins of Kidderminster just match. I am more inclined to believe the name is adopted. But there is no way to tell from whom. In other words, there are no land holders with similar names for them to have been workers for. So i am left with the most logical option that the conquest was not a success for ‘the fam’ and that between 1100 and 1250 they were relegated to small land holders. Or, I can go with the pessimistic theory and say that it’s just as likely that the lands were awarded in the north to the de dolietta’s. Family worked for them. the line ended. the family kept the name, moved south and settled in the Worcestershire area, then kidderminster. (some suggestive evidence of this). The thing is that they were literate as far back as we have records. So that’s the problem. It’s too believable that they fell from grace so to speak. And with the name and line consistent from 1250 to the present in that same area it just seems more believable to me that (as they seem to have been in france) they were ‘problematic’ and couldn’t hold territory. Puritans were lunatics. Really. I mean, you should read some of the stuff my ancestors wrote. It’s … worse than my own. lol)
