  • Why Are So Few Scientists Libertarian? Is There An Element Of Government Funding That Has Been Indispensable For The Advances In Science We Have Seen Since The Last Century?

Have you noticed how few intellectuals are libertarians? Have you noticed that oddly, all books on libertarianism are entry level, and none of them advanced?

Libertarianism had an early flowering in the sixties and seventies. But by the 80s almost all had abandoned it, and at present only the few people associated with the Mises Institute’s pseudoscientific propaganda remain. The reason being that it’s a dead end.

The general intellectual progress through the ideologies is Classical Liberal (Hayek/Haslitt) > Libertarian (Rothbard) > Anarcho Capitalist (Hoppe) > Dark Enlightenment (Mencius) > Propertarianism (Strictly Constructed Natural Law Classical Liberalism)

  • Is Russia Our Enemy?

Russia is not so much an enemy as Russia and Russians feel somewhere between a messianic and religious conviction that they must restore Orthodox civilization, and that the west has consistently prohibited their efforts – and the truth is we were wrong and the russians were right.

Russia is paying a very high price for the Bolshevik and Soviet Eras.

We were wrong in entering WW1. Wrong in entering WW2. Wrong not to defeat the communists in China, and wrong not to immediately include the Russians in NATO. We were right to crush Saddam Hussein but wrong to try to create a democracy, rather than let the existing peoples replace him.

Russia merely screwed up invading Ukraine. She could have easily bought all of ukraine other than Galacia (in the west) for a song, and now she has made herself a threat again.

  • Why Can’t The Us Just Obliterate The Likes Of China And Russia?

Because we are Europeans. We are the world’s Aristocracy. We invented aristocracy. We are also, unfortunately, Christians. Meaning we play ‘extremely forgiving tit for tat’. And so we don’t do that. We civilize people instead. It’s just more profitable.

Look. when the Great Khan was to decimate China, his advisors told him how much money he could make by taxing them rather than just robbing and killing them.

If you’re a westerner, with the only high trust civilization on earth, making customers is simply more profitable than killing them. 3500 years ago the Indo Europeans and conquered pretty much everything from the atlantic to the source of the Yellow River, and from the arctic circle to Egypt, with the Iranians dominating the warm climates and the europeans dominating the cooler climates.

    It’s just profitable to rule.

It’s also really hard to profit from rule when almost everyone on earth is dead and the people who are left want to kill you.

The real question is why the west and the russians don’t get together and kill everyone else and just enjoy the rest of history together.

—“( This group should really be renamed trite, dishonest, political memes, link-spamming, and amateur propaganda group.

There are no debates and no discussion, which require reciprocal honesty.

There is no philosophy here – which requires structured arguments of internal consistency.

There is in fact nothing but shallow moralizing, ridicule, shaming, and rallying, the purpose of which demonstrates little other than the poster’s inability to construct honest, internally consistent arguments, and carry on honest internally consistent discourse. )”—-

( Eli Harman: Not that I want to get involved, but I seem to have gotten myself involved by accident, so what is the deal with Greg and the white sharia thing?

I mean, memes are sarcastically hyperbolic, and I block memes on my own page but I recognize memes have value in other (less literate) forums.

I don’t engage in white-sharia kind of explicitly hyperbolic argument but I understand its marketing value in other forums.

I use my own version of attention-getting by attacking sacred cows, which is, implicitly hyperbolic. And once in awhile I will use some oxymoron like ‘market fascism’ or ‘natural law fascism’ for hyperbolic marketing purposes.

And I’ve argued that hyperbole is the means by which conservatives illustrate their long time preference by use of the kantian categorical imperative: “What if everyone did that?”

But I don’t understand what is going on? Is the problem for him that white sharia isn’t identifiably hyperbolic?

    Thanks )
