    Indians, like south americans, have probably missed the window of opportunity at this point – and while I have a deep love of indian people and appreciation for a culture I find somewhat difficult to even comprehend at times, I would ask each indian to search his soul and ask “Why are we always defeated? Why do we always lose? If india had been other than a british colony, gandhi would have been killed immediately – why? Why do sanitation, poverty, and illiteracy still plague our people?”

    My prediction is that China will not fall. But India will. For a very simple reason: there is something very wrong in the culture of india. What is it? Why do strange ideas like out-of-india survive? Why will india be conquered slowly in modernity?

    These conditions are extremely helpful:

    1) If a novice, then a therapist or experienced guide. Once experienced, benefit can be derived from having the experience(s) in complete solitude.

    2) Carefully weigh the dose, so that there can be no uncertainty or panic about “having taken too much”. It’s alright, and even useful, to take a high dose, but it must be a carefully measured high dose.

    3) The most important part is the inner experience, not any conversation you have with the therapist. So the therapist must understand that he should not speak or ask more questions than is absolutely necessary. AFTER the experience on the other hand there can be lots of talking.

    4) Thick curtains for complete darkness, or a comfortable eye cover. Headphones with instrumental music. May be any type of instrumental (classical, ragas, ambient etc.), preferably nothing too bombastic. When tripping alone, prepare the music list, because you might not be able to operate your computer or remember the names of artists while having the peak experience. The peak of a mushroom trip will last for about 4 to 6 hours. For LSD it tends to be 6 to 8 hours, but plan for 10 or 12.

    5) When the peak of the experience is over but there are still some light after-effects, walk towards a body of water, like a river or a lake, and just enjoy the sight. If that is not an option, go sit in the garden with a glass of wine, or something like that.
