  • East Asia tries NOT to make their society politically active

    October 19th, 2018 10:24 AM

—“No human society has perfected the organization of the government. What East Asia tries to do is to NOT make their society politically active. This means that they focus on their lives rather than protesting on the streets, and on discussing things that most people have no clue about. I feel more free in East Asia than anywhere else in the world. My view is that lack of political freedom under benign dictator is among the best forms of government (assuming we must have one).”—Jayant Bhandari

  • Living in a scientific culture

    October 18th, 2018 7:52 PM

“Adults living in a scientific culture are more rational (and intelligent) than adults living in pre-modern cultures. For example, according to studies conducted in the 1960s and 1970s, even educated adults living in Papua New Guinea did not reach the formal stage. Australian Aborigines who were still living a traditional lifestyle barely developed beyond a preoperational stage in their adult years. Without a population that has mentally developed to the level of formal operations, which entails a capacity to think about abstract relationships and symbols without concrete forms, a capacity to grasp syllogistic reasoning, comprehend algebra, formulate hypotheses, there can be no modernization”

Or a concept of reciprocal, negotiated sovereignty! Conceptualising and operating in such a paradigm is as foreign as colonising mars! h/tip Curt Doolittle (No idea who posted this)

  • War Over Scripts

October 18th, 2018 5:30 PM WAR OVER SCRIPTS by John Mark [T]he culture war is the battle over whose scripts control the most NPCs. NPCs lean mostly left because the lies feel better. The Right has a built-in disadvantage in the culture war. On top of that, the Right-wing NPCs (“No more illegals but yay legal nonwhite immigrants bcuz I don’t want to be wacist!”) actively support invasion of millions of enemy NPCs every year. Thus we cannot win back America by winning the culture war. Give us 20 years with no immigration, maybe. But because of immigration we don’t have the time. So we separate.
