interesting question. π What is being measured by each diagram? What is the relationship between those measurements? π

OK. Though I know it produces mindfulness, clarity, an increase in agency, and a tendency to plan one’s future, what else does it do? π

Charles: Serious question: Why can’t the same statements be made Scientifically (Causally) instead of in literary (philosophical) terms? I find almost everything written a literary cover to obscure ignorance of the relative simplicity of brain in producing experience. This is only marginally less true in the majority of the papers by those working full time on producing foundation AI models.

OBVIOUS.
Deterministic right? If all experience is reducible to disambiguation of sense perception, and all language is reducible to those those disambiguations, and inter-language commensurability in representationalism using n-dimensional relations, then we should see the convergence of concepts in the mind, in language, just as we do in the sciences and the grammars – with ‘sounds’ that encode those concepts the only variation. ie: “Convergence”.

–Q:Curt: “Would you agree that de-industrialization (outsourcing manufacturing) creates a sort of a gap between low-skill and high-skill (abstract) work, forcing everyone not interested or capable of the latter to work in the former, reducing their prospects for development and earnings?”–
Well of course. I would also add that the rapid increase in administrative jobs made possible by the advent of desktop computers will have been the equivalent of the postwar increase and collapse of manufacturing.
So while men were rendered unemployed by outsource of manufacturing women are going to be rendered unemployed by outsource of clerical work to AI.
But the real reason (somehow lost in time) is that unions drove manufacturing offshore. And the conservatives advanced it because of the alliance between unions and the democrat (communist) party.
Now, it’s the conservatives who have taken in labor as a means of repatriating industry now that unions are decimated, and the democratic (communist) party is disavowed.
Why? Responsibility. Right = Responsibility, Left = Irresponsibility.

Can you explain so that I can share it, the difference between the libertarian ethic of non aggression and the propertarian ethic of reciprocity?

@curtdoolittle @ThruTheHayes Great post!
When one internalizes these layers of falsification, one can train the intuition for full accounting across domains.
I had a background in Austrian Economics and Public Choice when I first encountered your work: reciprocity and capital-in-toto brought it full circle

ARE OTHER LLMs VIABLE – WORTH THE SPEND?
Other than OpenAI and Grok, every other LLM is utterly incompetent for our purposes – embarrassingly so. Occasionally we find perplexity useful for research.
Is there any reason we should continue to pay for our accounts with Anthropic, Gemini, et all?
They brag about context window size for example but cannot tolerate large documents, hallucinate terribly, and err constantly.
I realize what we do is harder for LLMs than math and code, but that doesn’t prevent OpenAI from handling it.
