DISAMBIGUATING THE TERM INTELLIGENCE

So that we can discuss it intelligently.

Intelligence is the term for Rate of Cognitive Adaptation, and that rate is determined by neurological scale, quality of integration, and response time. We can measure a) those responses, b) their result by written tests, or c) as demonstrated by competitive consequence in life.

So to disambiguate the term ‘intelligence’ we find the sequence: |Rate of Adaptation|: physiological intelligence (body) > cognitive intelligence (mind) > and demonstrated intelligence (action). And therefore clarify the dispute over the meaning of the term.

For thirty years I’ve made the same argument:that Demonstrated Intelligence consists in the following, in order: a) (g) or physiology, b) working memory, c) personality traits, d) idiosyncratic experience, d) general knowledge, e) domain knowledge, and g) false wants and beliefs.

The measure of DEMONSTRATED intelligence is one’s actions. But those actions will accumulate in success in any field by advantage over every other individual in that field of lesser intelligence, mediated by conscientiousness, specialization, and dedicated experience.

Most people like others speaking beyond their ken, often confuses a RESOURCE with its APPLICATION. Intelligence is in fact a scalar measure – which is why it was discovered. DEMONSTRATED intelligence is dependent upon the other personality traits and idiosyncratic experience.
