You speak with great confidence about a thing of demonstrable ignorance.
Population density is a vulnerability, not a strength. Conflicts are decided by a tiny minority of under one percent. Just as behavior in a polity is determined by under ten percent. Just as the most intolerant minority determines social norms. Just as the majority has no influence on the production of policy. Some of us have done a revolution. It’s trivially easy to seize and opportunity and those opportunities are heading for us at escape velocity.
How long did it take the federal government to fold in the 60’s? 3 weeks. We don’t even require a condition of violence today. We need only the threat of internal conflict and the externalities it would cause – in weeks. We are in a period of external vulnerability and internal fragility. And suffering from abuse of the peace dividend both internally and externally.
There are no conditions under which people who are hated in a polity will tolerate governance by those who hate them. Especially when the result is their disenfranchisement, disabuse, economic and political predation, and economic deprivation.
The greatest chance of victory is the certainty of conflict that leads to compromise and resolution before it accelerates. The greatest chance of conflict that causes destruction is the overconfidence that such a conflict is impossible or unwinnable.
I laud your popularization of and attack on the woke. But the tendency of public intellectuals with success in a domain to overreach to the point of harmful incompetence is the same as that of governments who overreach to the point of incompetence.

As a classical liberal, His is correct that fascism is wrong.
If you asked SRHicks if there is a difference between fascism and napoleon total war, other than total war is temporary, and fascism claims a permanent ideology, then I suspect he’d agree with you.
If you asked me that same question, I’d respond the same way. IMO ideologies are just different methods of conducting warfare during the industrial revolution’s transfer of power from land to industry, and from aristocracy to middle classes, with the empowerment of the lower classes via that industry threatening the middle classes.
The question for the future, which I’ve not discussed recently but have frequently in the past, is how we, like the Romans, transition from a war-government (fascism) to a prosperity government (classical liberalism) with the same ease as did the Romans until Julius Caesar without getting ‘stuck’ in fascism. For all intents and purposes that’s what the depression-second world war combination did to the states.

It’s not complicated: Pay now or pay later.
Our liberties depend on producing custom commons for differing peoples in small states with low power distance and limited internal competition, thereby fostering maximum redistribution.
But our small states depend on large federations for defense, trade policy, and reciprocal insurance.
There is only safety in numbers – especially given that the USA will likely devolve back more to reflect the diversity of Europe than Europe will reflect the domestic government of empire across our Nine Nations, that is the US federal government.
There is no moral or practical argument against the continued gradual conversion of agrarian empires into industrial federations.
There is no safety for all, especially the weak, in cowardice. Europe has grown externally weak. We have grown internally weak. Perhaps the privilege of weakness that was the optimistic democratic socialist age has finally come to call its debts.
I respect Dr Peterson, but a life with the broken, the academic, the political, has failed to teach him the nature of men with real power, allies, and capacity for violence – and they are the most pragmatic and empirical of all.
It is very hard for such men to push buttons on command that mean their suicide – and the suicide of their kith and kin, to keep in place a government that you distrust.
Maybe in Islam. Maybe in Asia. But not so in Christendom.

Hegel, like Plato who he imitates, uses mystery pseudoscience as a carrier for what he teaches. While there is value in what he teaches, the criticism levied is on form and the subsequent use of that form for the great intellectual crimes of history before him in abrahamic cults and after him in the reformation into marxist cults.
Empiricism teaches testimony over analogy. It brings the court out of the courtroom. But at the high psychological cost of truth before face – and the disruption of our self-image and our status, the self-image and status of others, and the status and competence hierarchy. Thus creating a demand for trust and producing trust, only those people of martial and meritocratic loyalty can tolerate. So only the strong and trustworthy can testify, and the weak and untrustworthy resist.
Every culture has revolted against empiricism and its falsification over justification, reason over narrative, and systemizing over empathizing. Those revolts radiated from Britain just as agrarianism out of the Levant, and bronze out of Mesopotamia – causing disruption as they spread.
And within our Western culture, the revolt against empiricism continues. Because the desire for denial and evasion of reality is greater than the desire to produce trustworthiness and trust to defeat it by mastery of it, by mastery of its laws. We can sedate the weak, enslave the weak, enserf the weak, or end weakness. It’s just a matter of where we put the effort.
So the competition is between those who need not lie because they are in fact competent, and those who need lies because they are weak and incompetent , and those who would use lies to rally those who need lies, against those who are competent and capable of truth, reason, systemization, trustworthiness and trust.
