–“Religion arose as a collection of survival strategies, distilled through generations and encoded into spiritual narratives. The reason religion is so successful is it granted evolutionary fitness to the groups that internalized it, and they outcompeted or subsumed other beliefs.”–
Pretty good. I might be able to provide a bit of technical support to further enforce your explanation, but if we were to say that religions evolved at the same time as money that broke down the social ethic of barter creating the first wave of alienation, then religions evolved to create a standard of weights and measures to compensate, were accessible by the median’s distribution of the population but that reflected the group evolutionary strategy of the geography, climate, flora and fauna, race and competitors that evolved there, and the resulting civilization.
As you suggest Religions roughly map to IQ, just as races map to neoteny and to IQ as a result. Thus africa’s for ways (magic), middle eastern equality mythicism(theology), hindustan class religions (‘ways of wisdom’), chinese proto philosophy (wisdom literature) and european rational philosophy and empiricism (testifiability).
If you’re interested I’ll explain the dimensions of cultural differences that lead to these things, but in basic terms, if you combine what you’ve said in your post, with what I’ve said here. you’ve got most of it.
Well done. 😉
