They don’t care. The workers in the state are self interested. The state is selling propaganda and belief not results. It’s a symptom of the demilitarization and resulting desocialization, and abandonment of responsibility for others and the commons.

You maintain kin selection whether you build a heterogeneous empire by false promise (islam), or you build a homogeneous state or federation of states by true promise (rule of law). The political outcome is as obvious as the problem to overcome: dysgenics.

If you fancy a civic religion, democracy a cult, with a president as its head priest, then perhaps Trump is undesirable. If you grasp the direction of global strategic, economic, demographic restoration of the pattern of history, and trump attempting to prevent the fall of Rome v2, then he is flawless.
For all the benefits classical liberals have brought to us from their work, their ambition is still contra-scientific: the false promise of the French (counter) enlightenment, British Liberalism, Jewish communism, are the same: rebellions seeking power by denial of evolutionary laws.
They ask a religion of state without a religion of kin, whereas all civic religions were, must be, and will be, a religion of kin. There is no circumvention of physical, natural, and evolutionary laws – only lies we tell ourselves during brief periods of hyperconsumption.
While the middle class must run Government out of the greater shared interests of the people, the middle class like elites and labor have a particular weakness: overextension of their bias into a universal: the expansion of customers, the way elites seek to expand control by order, and labor seeks to increase numbers by resistance to both meritocratic orders in favor of equalitarianism.
