The central problem(and benefit) in history appears to be creating a military hierarchy that creates rule of law, achieving a Pareto economic hierarchy from it, and liberating a tiny smart-fraction innovative above it, with sufficient funding to produce ideas. It’s computational.

Boost of @Communism_Kills If people are fired from their jobs, banned from social media, kicked off by payment processors, banned from banking, and constantly haunted by the Google search results when anyone looks up their name, the only way to go from there is radicalization. If you’re ostracized from the rest of society and there is no way for you to reintegrate, there is no other option.
The people who talk about allowing second chances for felons are the same people who believe that people with the “wrong” views should be punished, for the rest of their lives, unless their apologies are sufficient enough that they also become activists.
“Cancel culture is just the consequences of your own actions,” unless your action is a violent crime, then you should be forgiven. If your “action” is words people don’t like, then you should suffer for good.
