Well, as a resident who lived through it, and who was loosely involved with intel, I’d have to say that it’s a 100% russian problem. Taking the republics like they did crimea would have been one thing. Demanding UA submission is something else. People come first, not govts.

Like I said, russian strategy is (a) use artillery to create a wasteland, (b) happly take losses, especially of their own soldiers (c) happily create civilian casualties. (d) overrun and continue. I assumed Putin would take option 3 (whole country) but I don’t see option 4 yet.

OK. So now we have confirmation that (a) Putin intends to take the whole of Ukraine. (b) He intends to take back Eastern Europe. (c) He will keep using the nuclear scare.

Russia has about one generation of survival left. Putin has to capture Ukraine to attempt to produce enough population, food, and transport to extend Russia’s lifespan. He wants a legacy. There never was a threat to Russia from ukraine. Russia will die on the hill of his vanity.
