I think it’ll ruin your day, but it’s not that it hasn’t occurred to them, it’s that libertarianism, like marxism, neoconservatism, and feminism, is intentionally constructed using suggestion to deceive those vulnerable to that deception.

So, the state is just an insurer of last resort consisting of a judge of last resort (monarchy, king, chieftain,), a court, and a military. A government exists for the production of commons – often just systems of measurement. Conflating the two during the enlightenment was bad.

Ergo if you don’t want to pay for the commons that others wish produce, you have the option to leave that polity as it no longer serves your market demands.
(This means investment in commons not redistributions. That’s not investment.)

The question is only whether commons that the polity either directly, or thru representatives, chooses to invest in, are within the limits of commonality, concurrency, universal applicability and utility, and equal shareholding, and as such voluntary by majority or supermajority.

Just as marxism is prohibition on private property, and neoconservatism is prohibition on public sovereignty, libertarianism is prohibition on common property to enable historical separatist ethics of free riding, privatizing commons, socializing gains, baiting into hazard.

Human interests are easily enumerable and I’ve done that extensively. Individual priority or value of those interests varies. Group strategy that organizes to produce, and makes possible the defense of those interests varies by properties that I’ve enumerated also.
