When you feel weak and that the opposition is powerful, you make symbolic emotional moves. When you know you have the moral high ground, the solution for mainstream support, you humor the enemy. I’m arrogant. I have no problem deescalating by humoring them. MESSAGE NOT SYMBOLISM.
