My work is hard and often exasperating, but when someone like you makes the investment and starts to apply it and sees the simple patterns that make up our world it’s a joy – though I wish I experienced it more frequently. 😉

Just because I founded a think tank and do research using social media by techniques that favor the innovation in research that is social media, doesn’t invalidate the fact that I’ve built 100M companies, bought and integrated dozens, consulted with fortune four hundred companies on everything from tech to strategy, and designed software across the spectrum – operationalizing the strategy of those companies. I don’t rely on the pretentiousness of academics or politicians. So I don’t signal ‘difference’ from the common man. It’s not how I approach the world: respect everyone as a peer until they demonstrate otherwise. That doesn’t mean I’m not different from the common man. I have more in common with the nasty elites that abuse the common man. I was just raised properly with anglo saxon noblesse oblige, and the christian ethic. So I take the moral obligation to serve the common man seriously.

But information does accumulate. I’m surprised the by influence I’ve had. Rudyard too. It’s the constellation of thinkers who produce enough of an environmental frame of reference, that can be converted to normie speak by the people who have the ability to enact policy.

The workmen next door are taking down a tree (and some rhododendrons). And then stuffing the branches in to a wood chipper. It’s really noisy and distracting while I’m trying to write.
So of course, to take a breather, I run out to fulfill my prescriptions, and on the way back, I see them taking a break. So I stop, roll down my window and ask “Do you take ex-wives”. And without missing a beat, the older of the men turns to me and says “only dead ones”. Then laughter.
This is a proper community. Farmers are the best. 😉

In my personal life I’m gregarious and a bit humorous. Most people like me even if they consider me unapproachable or intimidating in some way or other (which I think is silly).
Here on X I am nearly always working in my function as a scientist, using social media as a research and testing platform. (Or clowning around)
In business I am quite sophisticated and competitive – especially in business strategy, having provided consulting to so many fortune 400 companies, and running the strategy practice.
So there are sort of ‘three versions’ of me. And it’s interesting when someone from one version encounters me in another version and is confused: I just got off the phone with someone in the biz space. It was interesting. 😉
Who are we after all? Does everyone have a different character given the seriousness of the subject? I think very accomplished people in real world occupations (not the academy) have to.
