Just too many battles today. Hopelessness overwhelms me at times just like everyone else. The only cure is sleep, a few days off, and the will to continue the good fight.

Writing with Dr Brad. Three days this week. We start at 7am. And consistently after about three hours, my short term memory fails – hard. I can’t hold the specifics of the narrative in my head. ( there are too many) And I feel the compelling urge to rest.
Brad is about the same. :). He fades. 😉
That said we finished the chapter introducing group evolutionary strategies this weekend and it’s rock solid.
We have divided the book into six parts at this point. It covers the entire problem to solution arc.
I haven’t really asked Brad his opinion but I have gone from skepticism to cautiously optimistic to encouraged to confident during this journey.

Why do you assume I don’t know these folks and they know me?
The real reason is because my work is too challenging for all but a few on the right. I don’t do philosophy really, I do science and scientific epistemology applied to law constitution and policy. These folks all want moral vindication.
Despite my efforts the right remains anti-intellectual. 🙁

Brad turned my poor brain to mushy oatmeal working today. (Reality: I didn’t take enough notes last weekend, and we ended with some complex changes mid-way through. So it took over an hour to reconstruct our work for today. That said we managed to bring harpending, todd, and hackett into the discourse, and lay out the next chapter.). So I like to blame nonsense on Brad (though he really is a slave driver) whenever possible -which our staff knows is always BS. It’s part of the fun. 😉

I’m in a starbucks sitting next to three high school girls (maybe 16/17?) who are rehearsing a presentation on raising money for a local charity that I’d be impressed to see out of thirty year olds. ;). (And they speak at something around 200 words per minute, clearly and intelligently.)

I swear to god it is harder to explain my (our) work to non professionals as it was to solve some of the fundamental problems of intellectual history.
We can demonstrate it. People can at least partly understand the difference between ChatGPT and our CurtGPT. We can explain it – to people with perhaps advanced degrees in philosophy, and some computer scientists that have stumbled into AI.
