CULTURAL OBSERVATIONS : BOMB SCARE

So, Johannes and I get up at 5:00am to catch the train to Lviv, and it turns out that our separatist friends called in a bomb scare – shutting down Kiev station. So no trait to Lviv this morning! But we managed a nice English breakfast and will try again this afternoon.

HUG-ABILITY AND KISSABILITY

If small children weren’t so damned huggable and kissable it would be much easier for parents and relatives to avoid common illnesses. …. But you know, it’s worth it. 🙂 And when kids get enough attention that they aren’t desperate for parental affection by unpleasant means, they are really a joy to be around.

I am not yet sold on high investment parenting. But I am certainly sold on high parental time and attention. Schools as we conduct them, as day care centers for laborers (laborers we don’t need by the way), have been tragic for children. As far as I can tell, there is no benefit beyond a half day of school, and more parental time and recreation. All we do with all this fallacious productivity is increase meaningless consumption of status signals. And we do all that merely because we didn’t get enough affection and attention.
