Morality is only possible if we can and want to cooperate.
Slaves were domesticated animals.
They were not ‘us’ – people we cooperate with.

I really don’t wanna go there. but technically speaking right requires responsibility. So the child has a right as soon as he has a responsibility. Instead, we use the test of reciprocity rather than right. So we wouldn’t have wanted it done to us, and therefore don’t do it.
