1/2 Until recently we assumed out-of-marriage births were large. But the genetic data in the most recent worthy study I know of says it’s under 2% in european history, once property and inheritance develop. Even in primitive civs it appears to be very small.

(a) yes 90’s 80’s are percentages (b) the second number is ratio per 100.
Historically the number is 70% women and 30% men reproduce. Marriage in the medieval period was in the mid to low 80s. Death was extremely common so remarriage and child mortality were expected in life. https://t.co/hOwRL6hvEb

Data doesn’t support it. The variation betwen 98-102+ wordwide has no effect. Countries have to get into the low 90s for it to manifest, and low 80s to create a problem. Data says at best constant rate is historical avg of 80 best or <70% worst.
