I understand this research but I’m not sure I agree with all of it. It’s clear that prior to 3.5 we don’t engage in enough rehersal to create relations between episodes. But that’s an indexing problem – we can’t assemble the memories even if they’re compositionally possible.

That said, yes genetic diversity has a fairly small optimum – in the low thousands – becuase it allows for the fastest rate of ejection of defects, and the fastest spread of advantages. Conversely, there are odd risks that emerge from distant relations, which I won’t discuss here
