Four Physical Expression of The Autism Spectrum
1. Body Stimming (rock side to side) (Yes, and can still do it)
2. Hand Stimming (hand flapping) (No, But Fidgeting)
3. Eye Contact (difficulty) (Yes, but easily overcome.)
4. General (Boatload) of Anxiety (Social especially) (Yes)
5. Zoning Out (Hyperfocus. It’s Actually Zoning-IN.) (Yes)
Of course if they’d known this when I was a kid it would have been incredibly helpful. 😉 All the fist-fights and wrestling were kind of effective ‘training’ and certainly didn’t result in current-generation infantilism. But it would have been nice just to understand WHY you were different. That’s the benefit to today’s kinds. At least you know why you’re ‘odd’. And moreover, you know that with effort you can overcome pretty much all of it – if you work at it.
And, at least for me, I got the Apie IQ, pattern recognition, and mental work capacity thing in trade, so in adulthood I considered it a gift more so than a liability. 😉
Though my wives, business partners, friends, followers find the excruciating detail a bit exasperating at times. 😉
