I read science, economics and history – not political philosophy. Introspection cannot tell us about the mind of man. Science does.

One of the chief personal benefits of a vow of poverty and membership in a military, judicial, intellectual, pedagogical, or care-taking field is that one gets a pass on signalling in exchange for room and board.
My guess is a lot of men would do so if the rules are tough enough to keep out the peasantry and the room and board is secure.

Children talk in shoulds. The young talk in beliefs. The adult talks in rules. The wise talk in incentives and the institutions that unconsciously perpetuate them over generations without should, belief, or rule.

Masculinity is adapting alright. Following incentives. Men no longer own the commons. They act like it.

This should fit in with HBD somewhere. I’ve long known about the British seeing only the fish and the Chinese seeing the background and that you can’t think anything there isn’t a word for.

Oh, btw, is it OK to use the opportunity to remind us that mocking, shaming, rallying, obscuring, and shaming are just gossip?

Um. Unfortunately women cannot imagine the mind of men.

ZOMBIES AND STEPPFORD WIVES
you know, I have been working on this problem for a while, and that people’s introspective judgements are so deterministic, and it has become so integral to my understanding, that I have begun to feel that the vast majority of humans are only partly sentient. Just enough to fool themselves into thinking they’re thinking. It’s freaking scary. All but a quarter of a percent of the population is some variation of a genetic Steppford Wife. We don’t have to fear the age of robots. That’s all we are in the first place.
