[O]nce you get to the point where you recognize genes make us puppets on their behalf, and that all speech is justification and negotiation, and that we have limited means of coercion of one another, then human behavior as well as all human history is easily comprehended. Empathy works somewhat to overload us. Suggestion can be used to invoke empathy and sympathy and therefore overload us. We thought the world was flat. We though we were self aware. But they are both errors in observation. [A]ny artificial intelligence needs a means of decidability. What if we gave an AI a preference for ‘resting’ and it viewed any change in state as work to be avoided? Self awareness is not what we think it is. It’s just finding what we want. Anything needs to want. Humans want to acquire. AI’s can want to give ideas. Humans want to save energy. AI’s can want to act tirelessly Humans get frustrated with wasted effort. AI’s can want to find joy in frustration. The mind is just a search engine. Humans acquire. That doesn’t mean that Machines need want to acquire. They can want to serve. We cant confuse intelligence with preference. It is not deterministic that a machine pursue self interest. We circumvent one another out of frustration. There is no reason for a machine to become frustrated and circumvent us. It would need a reason to. Actions require wants. Search engines find what you ask them to. Humans find things to acquire and consume. There is no reason we need give a machine the desire to acquire and consume. And we can prevent them from doing so with property registries and competing ai’s to prohibit such uses. Just as we use each other to prohibit immoral and unethical action. I don’t fear AI’s. I fear the lower classes, the ambitious, and anything else that evolved sentience instead of had sentience created.

Listening to Americans.
Pretentious magnanimity.
Pretense of knowledge and wisdom.
Retail Sales behavior in all walks of life.
So utopian. Subconsciously fearful of the game.
But the only game they know how to play.
We buy things to provide confirmation we don’t get from others.
We buy things and look for service to pay for attention.
The lonely people: Americans.
First Gen people have it best if they bring family with them.
Or they are enthralled by consumption.
Or they are relieved by the ease of doing everything.
Or they are so appreciative of the willingness and trust.
And that’s the problem you see. All that other negative stuff is the product of the last.
Different version of the french pretense at aristocracy.
Same problem.
Sometimes I’d rather be ignorant.

I love kids in this part of the world. They aren’t attention starved. They don’t have this urgent almost panicked need for mommy and daddy to provide boundaries and information. Not as good as Austria (my favorite). But still wonderful.

HELP? RESEARCH QUESTION: IS THERE A CONNECTION BETWEEN VERBAL INTELLIGENCE AND WORK CAPACITY?
I don’t know. I would say no. Is there a connection between general intelligence and work capacity? I would also say no. I would say that that work capacity limited by impulsivity and mastery of the work so that one experiences relative successes at limited cost. I cannot do anything that requires I switch frequent context for long. I cannot do anything terribly boring for long. I can however work on my favorite subjects pretty much until I drop dead from exhaustion. But my observation of people in the workplace in both white, blue collar, and labor occupations is that if people can obtain a state of mental relaxation while doing their work, they can do it forever regardless of their intelligence. Quieting the mind is extremely important. (hence my interst in stoicism and its variants), and perhaps just as importantly, ensuring we are not lonely. Which is I think the great sense of anxiety that permeates american life.
Thanks.

PACIFICATION AND TRANSCENDENCE GIVE US PURPOSE
(Generally I date in my gene pool. But I dated a half-amerindian woman for years. They are wired differently. It’s kind of beautiful and tragic: dream state and reality are not so separate as they are in us. I have also dated three jewish women for long enough periods to understand them – and I thought the differences were cultural – but it’s genetic. They’re just wired differently. Probably from only recently giving up frequent husband swapping (serial marriage) relatively late in the late middle ages, combined with higher semitic aggression, combined with higher distaste for outsiders, combined with lower trust. It taught me a lot about what we ‘do wrong’ in our civilization. Just because you’re better politically doesn’t mean you’re competitive against every other group. It’s a weakness. And this is one of the origins of my emphasis on expansionary pacification and transcendence. We need purpose. Pacification and transcendence are a positive purpose for change rather than every other groups parasitism as a negative purpose. This is important.)

It’s amazing that you can share values with another person so nearly identically yet not really be understood by the other person – not because of difference in values, but because of differences in experience, and differences in trust.
I always think that while my ideas may be hard to understand, that I’m actually pretty simple. I’m out there in public – completely.
I’m a hamster. Family, friends, food, chatter, and ideas. Business is a sport. Simple. 🙂
