–“Q: Sunni (iran) vs shia (arab) IQ?”–
All of this subject, particularly in that part of the world, is hyper politicized and research is effectively a taboo. There are no comprehensive studies. The study that does exist shows a declining gradiant from south to north – which isn’t intutive and leaves me suspect.
–“Both Sunni and Shia Muslims are ethnically diverse. For instance, Iran, predominantly Shia, has a significant Persian population, while Iraq, which has both Sunni and Shia populations, includes Arabs, Kurds, and Turkmen. Similarly, Sunni-majority countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt are primarily Arab, but also include other ethnic groups”–
If I pull up my big data spreadsheet, the arabs are all about the same 83/84 IQ. The Iranians see no variation on that number but that’s discounting their diaspora and upper classes. The turkic people are about 3 points higher, and the people of turkey who, at least in the west are majority old european (greek) are 3 points higher than that.
So aside from the people of turkey, these populations do not produce enough of a percentage above the 106-115 thresholds to escape the needs of the intellectual competency of their majorities.
However, I don’t have any confidence in the iranian data. The number could be three to six points higher – or not, depending upon the ethnic group in Iran.
