As far as I know Trypophobia is not a phobia but a heightened disgust response evolved to recoil from maggots, botflies, chiggers, etc – skin diseases. It’s analogous to our response to spiders and snakes. I definitely sense the response, and as a child it was brutal having so sensitive a disgust response (I couldn’t use finger paints or play with dirt) but like many things exposure desensitizes us.
