I won’t play that game. James (@ConceptualJames) is doing great work, for the common good, and his own understanding is progressing, and he’s converging on something close to the correct understanding AND the solution to it. In fact, I don’t think he needs to take it as far as I do, because he’d cross the third rail if he did, and narrow his audience and his influence. I have to write law. He has to pursuade people whe NEED the law. And that’s a good division of labor.
As for personalities: He’s from ‘up in the hinterlands’ in the north of NY state, and a similar culture in Tennesee. And I’m from ‘over there’ in the hinterlands of western NY state – both of us near the Canadian border. He makes perfect sense to me. But he’s younger. He’s from a later generation. Has a narrower field of experience and study. Works in the literary rather than scientific frame. And he’s a little ‘southern and christian and culturally scotts irish’. And I’m about as new england anglo founder stock as you can get. But I can cross class, culture, and intellectual lines without difficulty, and appreciate what he does.
Unlike ‘rigid conservativse’ I don’t need people to be like me. If I did, as you can see, it’d be more lonely out here in supernerdia than it is now.
I just want us to ‘win’.
Cheers
