IT’S ALL JUST SIGNALING
(staff humor)
Curt Doolittle: “I talked to somebody the other day. And I said, it’s really depressing working on the means of deceit because it reminds you just what kind of sh–ts people are. But, then working on cognitive bias is different – because then you realize, wow, it’s amazing we get anything done at all.”
Martin Štěpán: “It’s increasingly surprising that there are even people that tell the truth.”
Brandon: “There aren’t that many.”
Martin Štěpán: “I’m just reading that Bronski study from yesterday, confirming what we probably already expected: that what people say has absolutely nothing to do with their behavior. It’s just another category of behavior. It’s just signaling. He specifically looks at work people. It’s like Celebrate drag queens, but would never take their kids to Drag Queen Story Hour. They celebrate homosexuality, but don’t want their kids to be homosexual. Celebrate diversity, but then move away from non-white neighborhoods.”
I can’t decide if this is funny, ironic, absurd, or depressing. 😉
