—“Aristocracy: the move from ‘broken window policing’ to ‘broken spinal cord policing’, apparently. I’d like to see this purported evidence.”— a Critic.

    Evidence: Pinker: Better Angels.

    Wade: Troublesome Inheritance.

    Clarke: The Son Also Rises.

    Principles:

    1) Paedomorphic Evolution,

    2) Genetic Pacification,

    3) Legal, Cultural, and Normative Pressure against aggression, impulsivity, high time preference, and low intelligence.

    4) economic ostracization of non-conformists, the use of late marriage, and the ban on cousin marriage.

Although I love the idea of combining the broken window and broken spinal cord concepts.

    (Curt Doolittle | 19th January 2016 at 1:44 pm)

Why the UK penchant for nonsense arguments? The Romans held disdain for the immorality of the greeks for the very same reason that the rest of the world holds disdain for Brits.

Sentences, paragraphs, and speeches rarely consist of recipes. Just because a man refers to a cake, does not mean he cannot bake one from constituent parts..

Just because a public servant refers to a policy agenda, does not mean he cannot create a practical one from practical measures.

THE MOVIE “TRUTH” AS FALSEHOOD – ALBEIT WELL WRITTEN

OMG, what a hollywood-engineered piece of propaganda for resurrecting their own morally dead.

But as dialog for smart people, with a good cast, if you ignore the almost non-existent excuse-making narrative, you can find Sorkin’s style in there.

What is that style? The discourse of inferences.

The opening scene where she walks into an office and the conversation is not reduced to proletarian simplicity by actors pretending to be members of the upper middle educated classes.

It’s a model of dialog only possible if you first flesh out your character’s entire life, interests, portfolio of views, and

Unfortunately, all these characters have the same progressive (fantastical) lives, interests, and portfolio of views.

Characters should represent real world entities, working through mythic (universal lessons) problems. Mythology requires exaggeration – which we usually call hyperbole in order to draw attention to relevant properties of individuals and circumstances that they encounter.

I am not impressed by the depth of psychology one can explore in the nuance of incentives of the dysfunctional – which is the postmodern trend using psychologizing for status signals. In fact I am not sure that the entire literary edifice is other than a vast church for the distribution of immorality for the purpose of obtaining status signals despite doing nothing productive on this earth.

Why should one care about the depth of your dysfunctional feelings, rather than the means by which you conquer them and life’s challenges?

The postmoderns, feminists, socialists, libertines, are all a cancer fed by consumerism, made possible by debt, made possible by the burning of thousands of years of western evolutionary history.

Kill them all and let their gods sort it out.

PLAYING BADMINTON WITH GREG SWAN 🙂

(I have no idea who this guy is. But why he wants to take shots at me is beyond me.)

    Greg.

I suppose it’s fine if you pretend you’re witticisms are more than the philosophical equivalent of dick and fart jokes. I mean, I find dick and fart jokes humorous also. I find meaning and analogy helpful. I find ridicule entertaining. But they are the political equivalent of jacking off because you can’t get laid, and not voting because you have no chance, versus having sex, and rewriting the constitution because with both women and ideas you have won.

So, you don’t seem to understand. I agree that stupid people need an intuitionistic analogist like you. In a division of perception, cognition, knowledge, and advocacy, I accept that stupid people need your work and smart people need my work. I just didn’t understand why you choose to attack my work for smart people when I didn’t attack your work for stupid people. Or why you don’t grasp that the world needs ideas for stupid people as as well as smart people – and always has. We need stupid people to storm the gates as canon fodder, or at least to tend the luggage. We need smart people to act as officers and to rule. We need a division of cognition and labor for serving the distribution of people who are stupid as well as smart.

After all. We are largely saying the same things. Except you’re distributing meaning, understanding, tools of shaming, and self satisfaction as an escapist self defense for the disenfranchised – and I’m distributing social science for the next generation of rule of law, that can be imposed by force.

But thank you for your repeat references, since all publicity is good publicity. 😉

(The Kim Jong Il piece is awesome by the way.)

    – Cheers 🙂

( PS: The opposite of “tl;dr”, or “too long; didn’t read”, is “ts;sr”, or “too stupid, stopped reading.” The difference is, stupid people type the former, and smart people don’t bother typing the latter. )
