WHERE DO TRADITIONS AND NORMS ORIGINATE?
Every group has a competitive (evolutionary) strategy at its formation. We develop narratives (excuses) and rules to persist that strategy, while maintaining some form of reciprocity. Once entrenched these are almost impossible to change.
There are a limited number of properties to these strategies. I haven’t disambiguated them yet, but at the general level they’re the nature of the world, the nature of man, the ‘right’ organization of the hierarchies to conduct and persist that strategy, and ‘right action’ within it. The norms and language vary according to the stage of development and long term demands.
These rules allow us to habituate, predict, and calculate our actions giving us the perception of the constancy of the universe by minimizing the complexity of our cognitive costs.
We are superpredators after all, and it’s amazing that we can cooperate in such vast numbers.

I don’t complain about races. There are no problem with races. There are only problems with ideas, ideologies, philosophies, theologies, cultures, traditions, laws, and government … and demographic distributions (excess size of underclasses in poor countries mean it is not possible to structure pareto distributions economically, create rule of law, middle class majorities.)
For the Arabs, islam was necessary to stop the horrible corruption of the tribal leaders. Unfortunately it became an excuse for expansion which destroyed many more developed civilizations.
If Persians had been successful and the turks not invaded and destroyed persian restoration of the middle east, all would have been fine.

Depends on what context you’re asking about.
I dunno what P can tell us but I think the discussion on Ireland has been going on for more than two centuries, and irish were discussed in the same terms as we cast subsaharan africans – and there is no mystery there. It was a third world country not that long ago. And having other people to blame for their condition just gives them an excuse for doing nothing. (Note that I hired irish on purpose ’cause it’s fixable outside of the home environment.)
WHAT’S WRONG?
(a) don’t run your population up to 14ppl for acre on the only crop that can support that many
(b) don’t lose your upper classes to emigration. Ergo, dunno what real IQ is but it has been substantially lower than the european average for a very long time.Ireland went over the cliff (97) which is where the USA is today. 95 is a hard cliff. Ireland is below it.
(c ) mandate monogamy rather than serial marriage as early in your development as possible. Irish maintained serial marriage until the 1800s.
