Implied but unstated family history, is that military participation over the past thousand years produced access to land, income from war, and status from both. More research that’s interesting: the plague nearly destroyed my family as it did others in england. We didn’t lose literacy, but had to ‘start over’.Similar effect from industrial revolution – from farms to small businesses. But we seem to recover each time. Does Class=Recovery?
