What is best for an ethnic group over time, especially in relation to other groups over time, and ALL groups (mankind) over a long time, is not necessarily what is best for all individuals in the ethnicity IN time. In other words, defectors (migrators), impose costs on everyone.

It’s more than 1200 years. As far as we know it begins when they’re outcast in the levant, and the Egyptians choose to invest in them (as was common) for administration precisely because they had no loyalties to the other groups that outcast them.

What is the difference in the logical premises of each of those civilizational differences in means of intergenerational transfer of the group strategy? Why did each group develop theirs? Why are they so extremely resistant to change AND so durable?

So is Carlyleism right? Aesthetically, Culturally, and institutionally he’s correct. But his economics isn’t – he was amidst a storm of change. And we can’t blame him for it, because while he was visionary, he was a bit early, and lacked our present understanding.

The economic advantage of asymmetry between (a) innovation converting more energy per capita, (b) the profitability of selling that advantage. (c) its capture in Malthusian reproduction (d) reversal or innovation as that consumption (e) the unvirtuous cycle that results.
