Yes, well, I think Peter is using the wrong term, or is using the term ‘Ethnicity’ in political rather than cultural context. As I understand it, he means something closer to ‘Culturally Homogenous State’ vs what we mean as closer to a genetic-linguistic population.

Russia is a semi-superstitious country on a scale unimaginable by europeans and only less so by american christians. They live a history as deep as the european’s wars, and american revolution and civil war. This ‘myth’ is more influential there than ours are here.
