Let’s put it this way. There are still Jacob Rees-Mogg’s over there and we don’t have anything close on the football field, anything in the whole stadium, or anything in the whole country to match him with. If you go to Denmark or Germany the upper classes exist but are literally out of sight. But our equivalent went out of sight postwar, and they’re actually gone now. Even my family, which isn’t exactly anonymous in American history, has almost disappeared through out-marriage, or are still in the agrarian flyover country more religious than the New England military, merchant, craftsman, lesser aristocracy.
