WHY DID SOME CULTURES (COUNTRIES) MISS THE WINDOW?

The principle difference between civilizations is the degree of trust: meaning the trustworthiness of each individual in personal, private, social, economic, and political life.

Russia is a low trust civilization. China is a lower trust civilization. India is an even lower trust civilization. The middle east (MENA) is a much much lower trust civilization. The subsaharan africa is a trustless civilization. The Japanese, South Koreans, and the Europeans (mostly northern europeans) are the only high trust civilizations. (Small ethnically homogenous nation-states.)

Those civilizations that experimented with communism and socialism ‘blew the window’ of modernizing, where they hade but a century to sieze their share of incentives to create a majority middle class society, before market differences between civlizations eliminated any chance of advantage. Now they have built up consumption, but they have no capital to use to transform, and no market means of transformation.

So most will double down on ideology religion or authority to compensate. Some others will knuckle under (india) and develop quickly. Others more slowly.

    TESTIMONY: OUR OBJECTIVES
Sorry. I criticize ideas, beliefs, cultures, and civilizations. I don’t do the race thing. IMO race differences are largely differences in class size that place different demands on norms, traditions, laws, and institutions – but that we can all cooperate under the natural law, and that all people can evolve toward rule of law by the natural law that suppresses crime, corruption, and bad government – given enough time and effort. I recognize that europeans invented these things and as such we have a long head start. Sure. But when you realize western civ is just ‘science all the way down’ you realize that everyone can adopt the science (understanding) and technology (institutions) to make the same ‘goods’ available for all.

Now I’m aware that (a) the west got stuck selling democracy vs communism instead of rule of law vs authoritarianism. Because frankly, democracy is almost irrelevant – it’s rule of law by the natural law that provides peace and prosperity. And good govenment is only possible under rule of law by the natural law.

And I undrestand that OUR laws aren’t suppressing the cult-of-hatred that communism mutated into, called liberalism-feminism-woke. But I also understand that we can, and you can, quite easily write constitutions that prevent these evil cults of hatred just as we prohibited evil religions that preceded them in the past.

I might work for my people first. But As far as I know I work for all mankind – whether you like the taste of the medicine or not, it’s what will cure your ills. 😉

Single-step vs multi-step tools vs complex tools
    1) The great leap forward in tool making was only 80k years ago in East Africa (probably due to fishing).
    2) The full modern human toolkit emerged only in the upper Paleolithic around 50K years ago.

Try it this way: any competitive advantage (privilege) for any stereotype (group, class, ethnicity, race) is the result of competitive superiority, is the result of the group evolutionary strategy (culture, institutions), and such criticism of the stereotype is either demonstrable as corruption despite incentives provided by superiority, or admission of the accuser’s inferiority..

Do you know why your ancestors were prohibited ownership of property? Or why limited to unfavorable conditions? Despite originally being valued by the aristocracy and trading in high value goods, and providing banking – at least prior to and after the templars?

I am confident I know your history better than you do. 😉
Because I study economic and legal records throughout history. Though I’d suggest you read Benjamin Ginsberg’s “Fatal Embrace”. You probably can’t tolerate Solzhenitsyn’s “200 years together” or MacDonald’s “Culture of Critique” series.
