    V. REASONS LYING IS PART OF RUSSIAN CIVILIZATION

    (Roman Skaskiw)

    1) They have been solving the problem of creating a culture to justify their state. And their enormous tangle of lies will unravel with the truth:

The accumulated weight of Russia’s lies has to be pressing on something – there has to be a consequence to it.

For centuries they’ve valued strength above everything else, but they lie to achieve it, and because no one can trust anyone else, they are far weaker than their European neighbors. Maybe it’s time for them to understand the truth.

But to accept it, Russians need a moral exit. They need a way to feel good about themselves that isn’t a lie. They need to rediscover their own story. They need a new mythology.

But they’ve been lied to for so long: Russians are not ‘Rus’. They are not Kievan. They are Muscovites – Europeans, mostly – but their culture and institutions are Byzantine, Mongol, Tatar and Islamic. And that is an unappealing, uninspiring history.

This conflict may be truth’s conquest of strength. It will continue toward Moscow because truth and cooperation is stronger than strength exercised as savagery and corruption.

The faster Muskovites find their story and return to their roots, the less people will suffer.

    2) They inherited institutions from the Golden Horde, and before intermarrying with the Finno-Ugric, Turkik, and Slavic people in and around Muskovy, they led them for two generations, training the locals in brutality and lying by example.

TWO BOOK THIS SPRING ON THE NORTH SEA-BALTIC PEOPLE’S

    (reading lists)

Lots of criticism of Pye’s writing ability (North Sea). But the fact that the book exists is still a sign of momentum.

North’s book (Baltic) doesn’t have any feedback yet and I can’t get my hands on it yet.

But I have high hopes that the two books form a good basis, along with a history of the Hanseatic league, of the central thesis:

**The North Sea / Baltic Kingdoms were the product of trade routes. And that, like the Aegean, trade, contract, trust, truth gave rise to reason and science.**

So it appears to me that mankind faces a terrible choice: to develop writing first and authoritarian rule, or to inherit (adopt, import) writing, and develop commercial (civic) rule.

    THE ALTERNATE HISTORY OF MAN.

    (important) (inflammatory)

Each wave of man was more aggressive than the previous.

Each wave of man exterminated the previous wave of man, whenever advantageous.

Hunter-Gatherers had bigger brains but were less numerous and less aggressive.

Northern Europeans with big brains are smarter with bigger brains and less aggressive.

The Steppe/Desert/Levant has been kicking off waves of increasingly aggressive peoples for thousands of years.

The newer peoples are less intelligent, more reproductive, and more aggressive.

They are the future of man.

Unless we change again, to keep them at bay.

The future isn’t one of achieving supra-human intelligence.

It’s one of decreasing intelligence and increasing aggression.

And the world is running out of the old species with calmer, smarter, bigger brains.

@randiego2 @voxdotcom I just follow incentives. Moral arguments generally are used to obscure motives. Slavery alone wasn’t enough for war.

  • Civic Evolution

    (important idea) (very interesting)

    [T]he Ancestry of Cooperative Institutions:

    1) TEMPLE(adds cooperation)
    2) —–>CHURCH(adds education)
    3) ————->BANK(adds production)?
Were the templars the highest political order we achieved? (yes?)

I have been fairly certain that the most important recent institutional development has been the Credit Union.

But what if your credit union also offered education?

Individual + Family + Education + Credit Union + Insurance.
    Individual + Partnership + Banking + Investing + Treasury.
    Individual + Unit + Regiment + Militia.
Individual + House + Government + The Law.

(Is the central bank the central force prohibiting the conversion of Credit Unions into the central means of producing a civic order?)

I think this is my big idea for Q3 2015.
