Westerners are unique in our deconflation of subjects – separation of the scientific/factual, legal/testimonial, moral/philosophical, festival, literary/emotional, religious/spiritual into separate disciplines most of which possess their own disciplinary languages.

The most likely reason for the chinese failure to advance as rapidly as the west despite their much longer history and opportunity, is (a) harmony over resolution (b) lying in every possible context to prevent disruption of harmony (c) shift from empirical to ‘moral’ (rational) government.

I’ve worked pretty hard and I think successfully at this curious western phenomenon we call ‘truth’, and I think I’ve successfully translated all the disciplines into a single scientific language.

But I can’t even imagine any other civilization getting close to this state. Their concepts and languages and cultures are such a significant barrier that even among europeans the anglos are the only people to preserve deconflation.

—“During the Age of Discovery, the acquisition of knowledge and territory produced high return to investment ratios. However, given the limits of human cognition and available territory, we’ve observed diminishing returns.

It is now costly, and highly unlikely, though not impossible, that we can make consequential scientific discoveries that produce the returns observed in the early scientific period. Similarly, humans have populated all habitable areas of planet earth, so territorial expansion is rarely pursued.

With these two changes we observe a corresponding shift from ‘discovery,’ the low-cost identification and capitalization of opportunities, to scientific criticism (high-cost identification + optimal calculation via negativa) of available, and known choices/opportunities.”—

(Cultural observations. In eastern europe you do not attempt to act like a member of the aristocracy, upper middle class, or even middle class to project status. You don’t even have to act terribly smart. what you have to do is have decent manners.

The problems I notice with american men is (a) lack of manners, combined with (b) false-status projection, and (c) general lack of cultural knowledge.

It’s unfair to them. How can you raise generations lacking manners, and culural knowledge and fill them with confidence and false-status projections?

    It’s fucking cruel.

No wonder the snowflake generations are useless.

—“Ahhhhh ah ha!. Calorie shortage acted as an incentive for cooperation which outweighed ingroup predation and parasitism. An increase in cooperative innovations occurs. New and improved ways to cooperate overcomes calorie shortage. As calorie shortage diminishes parasitism becomes a more viable option due to an absence of a natural inhibitor! Thus the need for institutional (formal) suppression of parasitism.”—Bill Joslin

    —in response to—

Cooperation boils down to property transfer?

    Via negativa.

It’s more that the violations of cooperation boil down to involuntary transfer of property.

We cannot imagine all the ways we can cooperate.

We can however, catalog all the ways we had found to irritate. 😉

By avoiding the false and bad and ugly we leave room for all varieties of true, good, and beautiful

We have been programming ourselves forever for finding cooperation and rallying cooperation (via positiva). The problem of calorie shortage reinforces the value of that strategy.

But we are not living in an era of calorie shortage where we must IDENTIFY opportunities, and instead, in an era where we CHOOSE FROM plentiful opportunities by eliminating error, bias, wishful thinking, and deceit.

I think this change from rallying to criticism is very important. A very important change in thought.
