Seriously, I’m a career CEO, (and you aren’t).
If you’re CEO *and* hold a controlling interest, you decide everything in the boardroom other than what might get the other board members in legal trouble. 😉
I’m considered an outlier among CEOs because I won’t do anything without unanimous board approval. And that’s because I don’t believe my own nonsense, and I don’t want to divide my board and management if I decide something and I’m wrong. If I can’t convince the board, either I don’t know enough to do so, or the board isn’t competent, and I need better board members. (Which is why you don’t want people who don’t deeply understand your business or who have alternative motives (investors) on your board).
