    AI :

Humans are acquisitive. Humans respect property (mostly). AI’s must be acquisitive only of that which is not currently property, and respect that which is property better than do humans. This is not a terribly complicated algorithmic structure. It’s a very simple rule.

If property is registered (blockchain’ed) life is pretty simple for an AI.

OK. GEEK HELP WANTED. MAC BUYING DECISION QUESTION.

    Upgrade HW or Buy New?

I use two Macbook Pro’s. A 17″ and a 15″ from mid 2010. (I take good care of my equipment.) Both have 8GB of RAM and 500GB HD’s. The 15″ looks brand new. The 17″ has little a bit of wear (one little dent on the side) from life in my backpack; and the battery is going and needs to be replaced. But for all intents and purposes they are adequate machines for a guy who basically writes for a living. (Albeit, I have 50 browser instances open at any given time.) And yes, I use both at the same time. Almost always.

The last release of OSX was optimized for SSD’s and drive performance has been an issue for me. I was going to upgrade BOTH of the laptops to 500GB or 1TB SSD’s, and replace the battery in the 17″. That’s just over $1.3K in cost.

The new Macbook Pro 15″ comes with the Retina display, 16GB of RAM, an SSD, and battery life is on the order of 8 hours. And it’s about $3K.

So, given that I am wired to these machines full time: do I go for the Retina display, the extra RAM, the performance and the battery life, and spend another $1.6k – and then use a new one, and the 15″, and leave my 17″ at the office. Or do I just save myself some cash and and upgrade machines from 2010 because they’re largely adequate for what I do?

(I was too embarrassed to admit that I routinely translate entire books using Google’s translation service. Emmanuel Todd isn’t available in English. But I guess if Bennett and Lotus do it, then I can come out of the closet.)

    SOFTWARE IN PARADISE

Most of our team, and their WAGs are in Cyprus now, cleaning the pool at the villa. Hunkering down to write software in the good weather, warm sun, free of civil war.

One of the great things about keeping your team small, is that you can do awesome stuff, like decide you want to work on a chaise lounge chair looking at the ocean. 🙂

After running a large company with all the personnel issues, I just wanted to run something small (and profitable). And this is one of the reasons why.

Sure it is taking us longer to get this product done, but Oversing is getting more and more amazing by the day.

Making Jira look like old technology was one thing. Making Microsoft CRM look (and feel like) ancient bloated technology is something else. That will take us a little longer. Making Microsoft Dynamix look like antique technology will take longer still. Making Outlook look and feel like bloated antique software will take us the longest.

But every single day we move the needle closer to reality.

Can’t wait to pitch it to investors and watch the lightbulbs come on.

    lol

Even if Bitcoin gets killed as a money substitute by regulators. Fractional sales of various instruments both asset and debt, and title registry are two very powerful technologies.

I am still certain that using the technology for servicing the underclasses is possible to promote. And immoral not to make use of.

I also see how to use the technology to advance MMT without the problem of inflation.

    The idea is solid.

“I AM CONDUCTING A WAR FOR MILLISECONDS!”

    (nerd humor) (in russian accent)

Kirill is trying to shave off .3 – .4 seconds from Oversing’s initial page load. So he’s cutting milliseconds here and there.

    Nerd soldiers go to war!!!

    lol

    I love this industry.
