OVERSING UPDATE
(Thinking that the best use of time is converting, slowly and painfully to the most recent version of Laravel, which has far better integration with the services we make use of (Queues and Redis). It would also allow me to better isolate the UI, and dramatically reduce the amount of information sent to the client. There are also three issues I want to improve in order to simplify completion: 1) the class structure of the tasks, 2) the class structure of the ACL, 3) the way the datatable config is spread all over the place. 4) the overuse of closures. 5) hard coded values that should be data driven. All of these things hurt maintainability and debugging.)

Public apps need incremental exposure of features the same way some games provide incremental exposure of features.
In Oversing you start with facebook, skills, projects, tasks, and calendar.
You can use workspaces if you want to, and start by adding collaboration.
You can expand the workspace with all sorts of additional tools.
You can add your own business rules (workflows)
You can buy your own instances and add financial functionality.
So you can get everything from an Asana/Slack to a full enterprise ERP.
The hard part is incrementally exposing it.

OVERSING UPDATE
Small stuff so far, but important stuff, and it’s only noon.
+Fixed the issue (hack) in the environment configuration so that only one copy of the db connection info is necessary.
+Fixed the pathing information (bug) so that Artisan commands will run correctly from the command line interface. … Yes, it’s true, you can’t call on configuration options until after they’re loaded. I know that’s hard to imagine… sigh. Anyway. That’s a big one. Now I’m off to fix the rest of the commands while I’m at it.

OVERSING UPDATE
1 – New server is up.
I seem to be able to build it reliably now that I’ve removed Phing, and simply use Laravel’s seed and migration features.
2 – Removed RBC references and replaced with Oversing inc.
3 – Next I’m going to finish the Market and Talent panels.
4 – Then it’s onto the financial transactions that I want to add.
5 – Then invoicing.
At least that’s what I’m thinking now.
I keep finding things I want to rewrite but I’m sticking with feature completeness unless it’s blocking me.
The base class is overloaded as hell. So I’m going to clean that up a bit.

PROGRAMMING IS AN ADDITION TO THE SET OF LOGICS
—“Aristotle, Buddhism, Heidegger, Patanjali, Dawkins on evolution, Darwin, Hume, and my Cognitive Science and Oblect-Oriented Programming textbooks. Always keep coming back to them; underline, highlighting, marginalia, notes, etc. These ideas are infinite, because they express who we are essentially.”— Adam Voight
Notice his addition of cognitive science and object oriented programming.
Programming is a new form of logic. It’s as necessary as every other form of logic. Because it requires computability. Or put more clearly, it requires existential possibility.
You can learn philosophy very easily by designing databases and programs. The difference is that since a compiler cannot infer, you must provide a sequence of statements that are testable with the information at your disposal.
Programming is the most current logic that we have. It avoids the errors of set theory, which while useful, also leave room for catastrophic errors and deceptions.

–“Tell me Dolores. If you could choose a bigger role for yourself, would you choose to be the hero? Or the villain?”—
To an AI this question is undecidable. Only man can make this decision – one way or the other. An AI can answer is, is possible, and advisable questions. But it cannot answer preferential questions unless man gives it that ability.

Humans have the ability to choose rationally whether to cooperate, avoid, parasite, or prey upon others. Machines do not need to have this choice. Humans create three organizations in order to make it difficult to prey upon one another. WE would do the same for AI’s.
