@OrielJohann
net net, yes you are correct. I just enumerated the majority of causes. I’ll wrap it into the industrial revolution relieved demand for consumption and we built a world for consumption which of course produced deterministic consequences.

HOW THE FAMILY WAS DESTROYED IN PURSUIT OF CONSUMPTION (THE AGE OF CONSUMPTION IS OVER)
The family was undermined by:
(a) mobility (moving to cities for work)
(b) deliberate zoning prohibiting cities from intergenerational family dwellings.
(c) Substitution of kin insurance with market/state insurance generally: the social security program etc.
(d) the introduction of women into the workforce but the siphoning of all their revenue into taxation.
(e) abortion and the pill
(f) No-fault divorce and broader family-law regime changes
(g) the marxist-pomo-feminist movement to destroy the family – on purpose the way the church destroyed the great families of europe by prohibiting cousin marriage.
(h) the ideological capture of education by women and women’s bias for gut-courses of indoctrination into rebellion – the female movement to evade responsibility and adaptation to intertemporal outcomes rather than temporal empathic ends.
(i) Education inflation / credentialism
(j) Resulting high housing costs and size constraints.
(k) Male wage stagnation due to deindustrialization, financialization.
(l) The computer revolution that vastly increased demand for white collar work by women at (temporarily) high wages.
(m) Tech and media shocks (sexual marketplace disintermediation, porn, dating apps; these act on mating markets directly).

@NoahRevoy
: I wonder about your thoughts on this subject. I see you as attempting to produce stable families and people capable of the stable family. But is that a recipe for symmetric couples despite the desire for women to obtain asymmetric relationships with men?

A SAD INSIGHT INTO MARRIAGE
While women will be attracted to men of agency (power) that provides them with security and consumption, the degree of that asymmetry of ‘power’ determines how the degree of defensiveness to hostility she will treat you upon breakup or divorce.
Like most men I love all my ex’s. The opposite isn’t true. And if it is, then the asymmetry of power wasn’t and isn’t present.
How do the sexes manage to get along without the need for reciprocal caretaking? We know ‘marriage’ is a product of agrarianism and it’s demand for property (assets) as a guarantor of survival.
But will we continue to regress to serial monogamy and destroy the institution of the family that is necessary for the high investment parenting that makes a complex civil society possible? Because it turns out that children from single mothers are effectively a danger to that order of civilization. Whereas single fathers will almost certainly remarry and restore the family order.

THE METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING DECEPTION BY SUGGESTION.
The way to trust any ideological trope (libertarian, feminist, postmodern, socialist, communist et al) is to ensure it’s a complete sentence, in promissory form, unambiguous, absent the verb to-be, describing a full transactional change in state from start to finish.
This removes the capacity for suggestion and substitution – most sophistry evades those requirements and therefore allows you to substitute your priors and thus tentatively agree with a statement that is the inverse of the meaning of your opponent interlocutor and thus a deception by suggestion.
Examples:
Libertarian ‘Man Acts’ is my favorite example of deception by suggestion. It tells us nothing. Conversely Marxism’s labor theory of value is intuitive but absolutely positively false, by conflating your costs to you with the value of your efforts to others. The socialist trope of “workers own the means”. The feminist trope of “Believe Women”. The Postmodern trop “Truth Depends on Power”.
All of these are false and means of deception by suggestion. They appeal to intuition and provoke substitution.
They are the 20th century’s mass production of deception.
A checklist that catches the standard evasions
When someone offers a trope, require answers to these in order:
1. Define the mover: Who acts? Individual, firm, state agency, court, party cadre, โthe communityโ?
2. Define the transaction: What gets transferred, prohibited, compelled, insured, or warranted?
3. Define the boundary: Against whom? Under what jurisdiction? Who counts as inside/outside?
4. Define the mechanism: Through what instrument (law, subsidy, prohibition, market rule, exclusion, credentialing, coercion)?
5. Define the metric: What measurement decides success/failure? (and who audits it)
6. Define the time: Over what horizon does the claim hold?
7. Define the loss function: Who bears error, abuse, and externalities?
8. Define the enforcement: What happens when actors defect? (restitution/punishment/prevention)
9. Define the counterfactual: Relative to what baseline and what alternative policy?
10. Define the exclusion set: What does the claim not imply (to prevent motte-and-bailey retreat)?
A trope that cannot survive this interrogation functions as persuasion without proposition: deception by suggestion.

Can we please just relive the 80’s 90’s up to 07 again please. Because I’m not sure it’s ever gonna be better than that.
It’s been downhill since then. And if it weren’t for the promise of AI this world would look relatively hopeless.
Why? The west didn’t defeat the remaining empires and fully bring about the age of nation states, free trade, human rights, and the responsibility of governments to impose no costs upon the nations of others.
The west always makes this mistake by believing humans are all the same with the same potential.
We are not.

Its bad enough that the Indians try to concoct this nonsense. Now east asians are trying the same?
There was gene flow both directions. There is no other ‘implication’.

The End of Social Democracy
In my lifetime I’ve seen the end of communism (USSR, China), the end of socialism (South America), and now the end of Social Democracy (Europe).
What’s aggravating is the knowledge that this process was deterministic – meaning counter to human behavior. But the well meaning fools in their arrogance assumed the impossible.
I felt hopeful when in the 1970s we recognized that communism and socialism would fail. I felt relieved when the soviet union fell. I felt justified when 2008 ended the Keynesian economic nonsense for the same reasons. I felt terrified in 2016 with the possibility of a Hillary victory would give her ability to enact her leninism. And I was relieved with the Trump victory. The four years of biden were a catastrophe that only confirmed our suspicions. And now trump is using shock and awe to reorganize the world because the american subsidy of world defense and markets is no longer sustainable.
I have doubts whether he can fix the bureaucracy but I suspect hisi reform of the world order will be successful. The net result however is that social democracy has played out exactly as predicted, just as socialism before, and communism before had done so.
