This is a good general sentiment to hold, just as the golden rule and it’s inverse are good sentiments to hold. And you’ve correctly disambiguated faith (religion), belief (philosophy), trust (norms), reputation (past success). However, this general sentiment is not necessarily true, because it lacks both the criteria of confidence(knowledge of facts and processes) and logical necessity (all logic is falsificationary).
So, you’re close. 😉 At least, close enough for common prose. 😉

Each of us sees futures we can imagine and imagine can be brought about given our knowledge and understanding. I have much greater experience, knowledge, and understanding, so the field of opportunities I can envision is greater than yours. Ergo your overconfidence is simply a measure of your lack of knowledge and experience. Breaking the USA back into states and more of them will provide the returns we seek and undermine the enemy – who requires centralization to accumulate power.
