YES WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A CIVIL WAR. HOW DO I KNOW? BECAUSE I AM GOING TO START IT.

Moral men merely need moral permission to take moral action.

    1) A justification of moral authority: pervasive lying, theft, and genocide.

    2) A set of demands for constitutional reformation.

    3) A plan of transition to the new institutional order.

    4) A means of raising the cost of the status quo such that meeting demands, nullification, secession, revolution, and civil war are equally probable outcomes.

I’ll ruin the parable of this post with the difference separating the two cultures: the Rabbi lies four times. The American Tells the truth four times.

This is the difference between cultures. Indo Europeans obtain adulthood by means of Oath never to lie or steal, and created a high trust society. Westerners discovered truth, reason, and science because of it. And in both the ancient and modern world dragged man out of ignorance and poverty using it.

High trust, Altruistic, Universalist, Truth Telling, with an ethical system that requires productive fully informed warrantied voluntary exchange free of externality.

I wouldn’t be too impressed with Talmudic study. There is a reason the most literate people in Europe produced nothing of value until attempting to integrate, and adopting the aristocratic religion of the west: truth and science.

Study Aristotle, Accounting, Mathematics, Propertarian Ethics, Anglo Saxon Common Law, Austrian Economics, Physics (in all its forms Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Astronomy)

    http://blog.talkingphilosophy.com/?p=9080TRUMP’S USE OF TRADITIONAL HYPERBOLE

    RE: http://blog.talkingphilosophy.com/?p=9080

First, I like that you’re pointing out his technique, and how long Trump has been using it – his whole career.

However, I think I might want to help you understand just how ancient this technique is in the west – given our many-thousand-year-old culture of oath-making.

You can notice rather quickly once aware of it, that traditional westerners who carry on the ancient traditions of oath-making (conservatives, or more correctly, aristocratic egalitarians) rely upon exaggeration in order to make the point that “this small thing if done by all of us will lead to tragic consequences”.

Conservative thought, which has its origins in the limits imposed by Anglo Saxon Oath that all men must give at maturity – meaning that men cannot steal in any capacity nor say something false or misleading – but they can still make use of exaggeration to illustrate intertemporal effects of behavior.

In other words use of hyperbole is no different from the use of Greek Fable, or Germanic Fairy Tale, or Shakespearian Drama, and no different from Michelangelo’s use of oversized hands, feet, and head, of his sculpture of David.

The use of exaggeration to illustrate a fundamental truth, is very different from misleading. It is in fact an exceptional means of communicating moral principles: that which we permit of one, will result in this bad of many.

Hyperbole is the language of parable.
