(critics)
Look, I’m quite open that I’m an elitist, a snob, and a disagreeable, in the anglo aristocratic tradition. But under noblesse oblige, which is a very christian ethic, I fully adhere to the demand for responsibility from those of us with gifts achievements and luck in life, to take care of the common people – that’s paternalism at its best. And loving devotion and loyalty to the people does not require a pretense of equality. In fact, it often requires the opposite. Else I would not have given up everything to work on the salvation of our people from the crisis of this age. If someone else were making the same or better progress than we are I would happily go back to making money, driving exotic cars, and celebrating attractive women. But moral obligation calls. If you had such a choice to make, would you, as I have, made the choice in favor of your people rather than yourself? I doubt it. Few of us do.
