Devolution to the states under the original intent of the constitution is useful, without geostrategic cost. Secession will disempower both the coasts and the center, leaving two weak countries. Secession and reorganization into a ‘bloc’ with the rest of the english speaking (and possibly more) world makes each more sovereign but preserves geostrategic military trade and economic advantage.
