They don’t. They’re [Ukrainians] genetically and linguistically and culturally distinct and they reflect the spectrum of french, german, polish, Ukrainian west Russian, central, and eastern development along the eurasia plain as civilization spread east from Lotharingian to Ural regions after the abrahamic destruction of the ancient world just as it did in the bronze and early iron age after the bronze age collapse. Especially from Kyiv west that was more influenced by polish and austrian rule – which is why the cultural heartland is in Lviv not Kyiv.
