I was raised very catholic with church school when young and private catholic school when in high school. And my mother was pretty strong on dogma.

So even though catholics don’t read the bible, they follow dogma, I read the bible (I had a family copy) multiple times, studied it in school (I think seventh grade), academically had to refer to it occasionally. And re-read it at least twice as an adult.

But look, I’ve got a logical and scientific mind and always interpreted it just like I did all other fairytales. I couldn’t take it seriously as a child, and I find it childish as an adult.

That doesn’t mean it doesn’t provide more meaning to people who do take it seriously. I just can’t imagine taking religion seriously. Heck, I have enough problem taking most philosophy seriously. And I’m pretty critical even of history. 😉
