I can’t say anything anyone hasn’t already. I think it’s more important to just describe the entire seattle scene in every aspect in the 90s – and music was just one part of it. Why? Microsoft gave more of its profits to employees than any company in history – more than all companies in history combined – so it created a sort of amazing ‘green zone’ where on the east side nerds were a dominant majority, and in Seattle the northwest arts-crafts movement and arts scene was well fed by that income. It was the whitest big city in the USA, with no immigration problems. Everyone was positive and celebrating it. It was just an awesome place to live.
