Idiosycratic experience of a pocket is not evidence of scale; opinion is confirmation bias, and your opinion contradicts the evidence. We are closer to civil war on the scale of the french revolution; closer to population collapse than the thirty years war; closer to economic collapse than the great depression, and closer to strategic collapse than the late roman empire, and a fall on that scale would accelerate and deepen all of the above. They are aware and informed but not mature, responsible, serious, knowledgable or competent – and they as indoctrinated into pseudoscience as the most superstitious. So you are confusing the temporary luxury of the remains of prosperity with generational competency to maintain it.
