Minefields cannot survive IFVs with charge-line explosives and mine-clearing tanks with ‘bulldozer’ blades.
But those IFVs and Tanks require suppression of infantry, man-portable anti-armor weapons, and artillery.
Infantry, Trenches, and Artillery crews cannot survive FAEs.
FAE’s require aerial delivery.
Aerial delivery requires air superiority.
Air superiority requires layers of AWACS, anti air missiles, anti-air fires, fighters, multi-role aircraft, Bombers, and those require extraordinary supply lines.
That equipment and those supply lines require vast numbers of technicians, transport, facilities, and industrial production.
Those technicians, facilities, transport equipment and industrial production require lot of time and money to train and build.
Instead one can destroy the enemies’ transport, supply lines, inventory, command-and control, and saturate them with artillery to exhaust the human ability to bear stress.
I see the UA military acting as absolutely rationally and logically and strategically as possible precisely because UA does not have the resources to fight an air war. and because at least at present, the belief that if given air weaponry by the west, UA would not be able to resist taking the war to the enemy to break political will.
So the logical option is to devote local production to taking the war to the enemy, and continuing to build the skill, maintenance and supply chain necessary to eradicate the ability of the enemy to defend entrenched positions.
UA does everything right. Why? They preserve their men.
